What is the Bounty Contract Event

During the Bounty Contract event, you’ll have the opportunity to hunt down and capture wanted criminals. The Bounty Brokers Association hosts this event and all recruits are welcome to join the hunt!

SWTOR Bounty Contract Event Guide (1)

You can be sent to numerous planets across the galaxy to meet up with a local contact. After talking to said contact, you’ll either need to ask some shady characters or use seeker probes to learn the whereabouts of your target. Once you find your target, you can bring them in warm or you can bring them in cold.

Galactic Season 7

With the launch of SWTOR Update 7.5.1, the most recent Galactic Season was added into the game. Galactic Seasons 7 “The Greatest Bounty” is a bounty hunting-themed Galactic Season, so to celebrate the occasion the Bounty Contract Event will last for 20 weeks.

You won’t find a better time to get Bounty Broker’s Association reputation and the various goods found later in this guide. Completing objectives with this event can help you with achievements needed for the 7.5.1 Dark vs Light Achievements as well.

Be sure to take advantage of this rare opportunity as you gain all of the Galactic Season’s achievements, you can gain the Hunter’s Mark Flair!

How to Start the Bounty Contract Event

To start the Bounty Contract event, you’ll need to look for the carbonized people located near the four outer elevators of your faction’s fleet. Right-click the “Captured Bounty” to start a cutscene, this will start the mission “The Bounty Brokers Association”.

Follow your map and make your way to your fleet’s Cartel Bazaar. This is the north elevator for the Republic Fleet, and the south elevator for the Imperial fleet.

At the Cartel Bazaar, you’ll find a droid named BH-7X. Talk to him to complete your mission. Now you’ll be able to take part in the Bounty Contract event.

SWTOR Bounty Contract Event Guide (9)

Next to BH-7X, you’ll find a Mission Terminal and a Pneumatic Tube where you can pick up Bounty Contracts. You’ll only be able to start out with basic Bounty Contracts but you have a chance to purchase Kingpin Bounty Contracts from the nearby Bounty Contract Broker NPC.

How to Complete Bounty Contract Missions

SWTOR Bounty Contract Event Guide (11)

When you interact with the Bounty Contract Event terminal, you'll get one of five missions to choose from. These can send you to Alderaan, Coruscant/Dromund Kaas, Nar Shaddaa, Tatooine, or Voss.

You may only complete one Bounty Contract mission per day per character. All these missions follow the same formula, so once you've done one you know how to do them all.

This step-by-step walkthrough will guide you through from start to finish for any and all Bounty Contract missions in SWTOR, part of the Bounty Contract recurring event.

Instructions

  1. Go to the Planet and meet your Client.
In the following example, we'll use a Republic character seeking a bounty on Nar Shaddaa. It's impossible to get lost on these missions as your map will have markers telling you where you need to go.
Once you meet your client, talk to them and they'll give you more details about the target, tell you why they want them apprehended, then you can proceed to the next step of the mission.
SWTOR Bounty Contract Event Guide (12)
  2. Collect Information from Shady Characters.
Follow your map to the next area and look for Shady Characters in the area. A good way to find them is to go to Preferences > Nameplates, then toggle "Nameplates on Friendly NPCs".
From here, you have one of three options to extract information from Shady Characters:

Option 1: Use an Investigation Probe on a Shady Character. This item can be found in your Mission Item's Inventory tab or on your Mission Tracker.
SWTOR Bounty Contract Event Guide (13)
Option 2: Use a Friendly Drink on a Shady Character. If successful, you'll gain Light Side points.
SWTOR Bounty Contract Event Guide (14)
Option 3: Use an Interrogation Probe on a Shady Character. Using this item will grant Dark Side points.
SWTOR Bounty Contract Event Guide (15)
To gain Friendly Drinks or Interrogation probes, you can purchase some from the BBA Mobile Supply Droid at the fleet's Cartel Bazaar. Each one costs 800 credits, or 79,200 credits for a full stack of 99 of them.
SWTOR Bounty Contract Event Guide (16)
There is a chance that the Shady Character will become hostile when using any of these items. If they do, they'll summon a few adds to fight with them. Defeat them then loot the Shady Character for an Underworld Information item.
Use the Underworld Information to progress your mission. After successfully collecting information 4 times, you can proceed to the next step of the mission.
SWTOR Bounty Contract Event Guide (17)

  3. Find and Speak to the Underworld Contact.
Follow your map to find a blue, interactable table. The design of the table may vary by planet.
SWTOR Bounty Contract Event Guide (18)
Use it to speak to the Underworld Contact. You'll have three dialogue choices when talking to the contact. You can choose an option that will grant Light or Dark side points, or remain neutral.
SWTOR Bounty Contract Event Guide (19)
  4. Locate and Use the Rendezvous Beacon.
After meeting your Underworld Contact, you can follow your map to find the Rendezvous Beacon. Interacting with this object will start the fight with your Bounty Target.
At this point in the mission, you'll have a new item in your Mission Item's Inventory and Mission Pane, the Carbonite Grenade. This grenade allows you to capture your target alive, but it's only usable when the target has less than 10% health.
If you're looking to capture your target alive, be mindful of having your companion in DPS mode. When they get low, it would be best to use basic attacks to whittle the target down. Damage Over Time builds should be quick to freeze the target before the DoTs finish them off.
  5. Capture or Defeat the Bounty Target then return to the Contact.
Use the Rendezvous Beacon to summon the Bounty Target. Capture them with the Carbonite Grenade when they're below 10% HP or just dispatch them. After either scenario, return to your client and talk to them.
SWTOR Bounty Contract Event Guide (20)
  6. Turn in the Completed Contract.
Your final task is to return to the Cartel Bazaar at the fleet. In your Mission Items tab and Mission Pane, you'll find a BBA Fleet Transport Authorization item that can be used to Quick Travel back to the fleet.
SWTOR Bounty Contract Event Guide (21)
Go to the Cartel Bazaar and use the Bounty Delivery Station next to the Mission Terminal. This will turn in the mission and grant you credits, a Completed Bounty Contract, a blue BBA reputation item, a Bounty Payment Lockbox that grants a few hundred credits, a Friendly Drink, and an Interrogation Probe.

How to Complete Kingpin Bounty Missions in SWTOR

SWTOR Bounty Contract Event Guide (28)

Kingpin Bounty missions are weekly missions that can be completed once per week per character. Before you can even access these missions on a character, you'll first need to purchase a Planetary Contract Authorization.

Instructions

At the Cartel Bazaar on the fleet, you can find a Bounty Contract Broker NPC. They will sell Planetary Contract Authorizations for Alderaan, Coruscant (Republic), Dromund Kaas (Empire), Ord Mantell (Republic), Hutta (Empire), Nar Shaddaa, Tatooine, and Voss.

SWTOR Bounty Contract Event Guide (29)

Each Contract Authorization will cost 5 Completed Bounty Contracts to purchase. Using one will play a short animation of your character reading the contract, and you'll get a blue BBA reputation item. Now when you use the terminal, you can access the Kingpin Bounty mission.

Since you can only complete one Kingpin Bounty per week on a character, there's no point in using multiple Contract Authorizations on the same character as you'll just be wasting the Completed Bounty Contracts.

The Kingpin Bounty missions follow a very similar formula to the basic Bounty Contract Missions. The only major difference is that you'll be using Seeker Probes for tracking down your target instead of talking to Shady Characters.

  1. Speak to your Client.
Go to the planet your client is at, then speak to them to gain some details about the Bounty Target. In this example, we'll use an Imperial character on a Kingpin Bounty contract on Dromund Kaas.
SWTOR Bounty Contract Event Guide (30)
  2. Release Bounty Seeker Probes Within Target Region.
Your next step is to follow your map to a specified region. Once you're at your target region, use the Bounty Seeker Probes found in your Mission Items inventory or Mission Pane.
SWTOR Bounty Contract Event Guide (31)
  3. Find and Scan 5 Bounty Seeker Probes.
After the probes fly away, you'll be able to use your Bounty Scanner from your Mission Items inventory or Mission Pane. Using these will allow you to see multiple orange circles, these are your Seeker Probes that you'll need to scan. Scan 5 Seeker Probes to continue your mission.
SWTOR Bounty Contract Event Guide (32)
  4. Lure Out and Kill or Capture the Bounty Target.
Follow your map until you find an interactable object in the environment. In this example, the object is a Sith Holocron. Use it to lure out the Bounty Target and defeat them.
SWTOR Bounty Contract Event Guide (33)
The Kingpin fights are a bit tougher than the basic Bounty Contract fights. Defeat any adds that pop up and avoid ledges as they can have pushes available.
One thing to note is that the Carbonite Grenade will only work on Kingpins if their health is lower than 5%.

If you're looking to capture them, be very careful when they get low and be quick about capturing them before any DoTs finish them off, or if a good samaritan decides to help you defeat the target.
SWTOR Bounty Contract Event Guide (34)

  5. Return to your Client.
Return to your Client and talk to them to update them on the situation. After you talk to them, you'll get a BBA Fleet Transport Authorization to quickly return to the fleet for the final step.
SWTOR Bounty Contract Event Guide (35)
  6. Turn in the Completed Contract.
Return to the Cartel Bazaar on the fleet and use the Bounty Delivery Station to turn in the contract. Upon completion, you'll receive a purple BBA reputation item, a Bounty Payment Lockbox, and a Completed Bounty Contract.

Tips for Gaining Reputation with the Bounty Brokers Association

Gaining Reputation with the Bounty Brokers Association can feel slow when compared to other reputation sources. Since you can only complete one Bounty Contract per day and one Kingpin Bounty per week on each character, this is best done using alts.

Using Alts for the Bounty Contract Event.

Ideally, you’ll want to use 5 or more alts per day during the Bounty Contract Event. This can let you gain access to at least one or more Kingpin Bounty Contract Authorizations on one of your alts.

Limit each alt to one Kingpin Bounty each and if you have too many alts like I do, keep some notes as to which alt has access to a Kingpin Bounty.

Spending Completed Bounty Contracts Wisely

Be mindful of spending your Completed Bounty Contracts on items at the vendor, you could also use those to gain Kingpin Authorization Contracts which grant better reputation rewards.

When you’re just starting out with the event, focus more on giving several alts access to Kingpin Bounties. Once you feel you have an adequate amount of alts that can do these missions, then you can begin saving up those contracts to spend on items.

Using Reputation Boosts

A common log-in reward you can gain are Complimentary Major Reputation Boosts. When used, they will give you 15 charges of Reputation Boost for 24 hours. Each charge increases reputation gained by 50% and each reputation item used consumes 1 charge.

Avoid using these on main characters you spend a lot of time on. If you’re out and about doing PvP, PvE, or Story missions regularly, you risk wasting charges should the timer run out.

This is better suited for alts you don’t use as often. When you log off, the timer on the charges doesn’t go down, so alts not often used can make better use of this item without the charges expiring.

Bounty Contract Event Vendor Items and Overview

I’ve already brought up the Bounty Contract Broker and BBA Mobile Supply Droid vendors in the Cartel Bazaar, but chances are you’re looking for the reputation vendors with the good stuff.

Ambassador Vendor – Specialty Goods

The Ambassador Vendors are unique vendors in that they require currency from three different events. To purchase their items, you’ll need Completed Bounty Contracts from the Bounty Contract Event, Rakghoul DNA Canisters from the Rakghoul Resurgence Event, and Gray Helix Components from the Relics of the Gree Event.

These vendors sell armor, weapons, a mount, decorations, and Red Sparkle Powder. Each item varies as to if it binds to Legacy or on pickup, I’ll clarify what it bounds to in their sections.

One neat feature about these vendors is that there are no reputation requirements needed to purchase items from them. Though by the time you get enough resources for the armor sets, you would have likely maxed out reputations with the BBA, Gree, and T.H.O.R.N.

Bounty Contract Event Achievements

There are three categories of Achievements for the Bounty Contract Week Event, they are Crime Lords, Henchmen, and General. Only achievements in General grant tangible rewards, though Crime Lords and Henchmen are still worth mentioning.

Crime Lords are achievements for Kingpin Bounties, while Henchmen are for basic Bounty Contracts. To gain all the achievements in either category, you’ll need to claim the bounties on all targets, capture each target once, and take down each target once.

The General Achievements for the Bounty Contract event offer rewards such as Legacy Titles and Cartel Coins. One of them is a Secret Achievement that’ll test your parkour skills! Here are the General Achievements:

Wanted: Dead or Alive

Captured and killed all available Bounties
Requires:
Bring ’em All In
Take ’em All Down

This achievement grants 20 Cartel Coins and the “Wanted: Dead or Alive” Legacy Title.

Greet the Overwatch Achievement

Kept the Cartel Hangar Sniper company for a bit.

Completing this secret achievement will grant the Legacy Title “Cartel Security”. This is an achievement that requires you to parkour to climb your way up in the Cartel Bazaar.

Greet the Overwatch Secret Achievement

The layout for the achievement’s area is the same on both fleets, so the Republic Fleet pictures seen below will also apply to the Imperial Fleet as well.

If you want an easier time with this challenge, I suggest using a level 68 Sage or Sorcerer with the ability Phase Walk. Should you slip and fall down, you can teleport back to a marked spot to save time catching up. The added movement from Force Speed will also help make longer jumps easier.

If you want to cheat at this, have a friend who’s skilled in platforming use a Sage/Sorcerer or Vanguard/Powertech to pull you up to the top. If you’re a Guardian/Juggernaut, you can Guardian Leap/Intercede to your friend. These cheat methods are boring though, don’t be boring.

Start at the Shipment Crate

To the left of the Bounty Broker Mission Terminal, you’ll find a shipping crate being used as a store by a Companion Customization Importer vendor. Jump up the small crates inside to reach the top of the shipping crate.

Up the Slope and then the Cable

Once you’re on top of the shipping crate, jump onto the metal slope and run up to the cable on the right. Go up the cable to reach some scaffolding, toggle your character to Walk with the / key on your numpad if you want to take it slowly and carefully.

Coordination and Confidence

The next area can seem confusing when you start out, but there’s a diagonal metal beam that’ll be your path to go forward. I’ve highlighted it in the image below to show you which one you’ll want to go across.

Follow this path to reach the first corner of the diagonal beam. Once you start walking across the diagonal beam, stick to the left side and be careful to not fall off.

Once you’ve made it across the diagonal beam, make a jump to the suspended shipping crate across from you. The hard part of the parkour portion is now done.

Jumping Across the Crates

You’ll need to jump from one suspended shipping crate to the other. Using Force Speed, Rocket Boost, or a Mount can give you enough speed to make this jump a bit easier.

If you’re going to use a mount, use a smaller one such as a jetpack. It’s much harder to judge where you’ll land if you’re on a large mount such as a Rancor or Basilisk War Droid.

Final Jump and Home Stretch

The final jump is from the shipping crate to a corner of the scaffolding. The area you want to land at is highlighted gold and has an arrow pointing at it. Once you make this jump, it’ll be super easy from here.

The past step is to make your way across the scaffolding without falling down. Take your time and set your character to walk with the / key on your numpad. Follow the highlighted path seen in the image below until you reach the Cartel Hangar Sniper.

Once you’ve made it to the Sniper, he’ll wave to you and you’ll get the achievement and the “Cartel Security” Legacy Title.
