What is the academic year in Singapore? ›

The first begins at the beginning of January and ends in Week 2 of March; the second begins in Week 3 of March and ends in the end of May; the third begins in July and ends in the first week of September, and the final term begins on the 2nd or 3rd week of September and ends in mid-November.

The standard academic calendar*, with effect from AY2020/21, will have the following structure: It consists of two semesters and a special term. Each regular semester includes 13 weeks of instruction and 2 weeks of end-of-semester examinations. There are two consecutive mini-semesters in each regular semester.

Our school calendar has 4 terms each year. Each term is 10 weeks in length which supports optimum learning periods for students as it prevents learning fatigue often associated with a 3 term (15 week) system.

A programme leading to a Bachelor's degree requires a minimum of 120 units. A student will typically take about 3 years to complete such a programme. A programme leading to a Bachelor's degree with Honours requires a student to complete a minimum of 160 units.

System Structure
